While hanging out in their game “Game Design…the Game?”, Phazero (Art Game and AAA Game Designer) will show the behind the scenes process of creating their AAArt games, talk about how they transitioned into gamed from Fine Arts, “breaking (falling) into the industry” and daily life as a AAA game designer who comes from more of a background in Video Art than Video Games.
Phazero is a multi-disciplinary game designer and researcher specialized in player experience and narrative design. Their personal work explores emotional experiences, marginalized identities, “digital consciousness” and video games as art practice. Their featured project “Game Design…The Game?” is a game about making games by making a game within the game.
Phaz is driven by games in their personal and professional life and has been a sole developer on a number of award-winning projects, and is currently a game designer at a popular AAA game studio. They are also an active member of the game dev community and have been awarded multiple honors and scholarships for excellence in design. Phaz is a proud IGDA Scholar and Women in Games Ambassador, Glitch city LA member, and has been a featured presenter most recently at Eyeo technology festival, IndieCade, Femmebit, and Transfer Gallery LA.
In 2019 Phaz completed their Masters in Game Design as Art Practice and wrote a short book/thesis on Meaningful Level Design bringing together psychology with interactive spaces.
